If she spends so much time talking herself up it's probably really because she doesn't think too much of herself. If she thought people would like her just because she's nice or fun to be around she wouldn't have to brag so much.

Insecurity.
She may not be as confident as she seems to be, and is talking about herself because she wants to be heard, or she is simply doing so because she thinks she doesn't know anything more other than herself, so she doesn't want to sound stupid talking about other stuff. Perhaps she feels lonely.

Self - absorbed.
She may be bragging, but that seems unlikely... I think it's more of insecurity or a habit.

Habit.
It may be a habit she developed from being in the spotlight, where she usually talks about herself.

Confusion.
Many people talk to themselves as a result of confusion, and she may be talking about herself as a result of confusion. Lol

She might not realize she's doing it. One friend used to natter endlessly about her life, her boyfriends, her troubles. One day, a frustrated roommate said everyone had problems and to get over herself. "Well, you have to admit my life is a lot worse."... when the roommate bust into giggles and proceeded to match her one-for-one, this friend realized she was wrong. It took effort, but she came around.

For that one friend, I can name dozens of ex-friends that are just self absorbed narcissistic twits. The one good part of gently confronting a friend is sometimes they'll change. Just walking away doesn't give 'em a chance.

She probably talks so much about herself because she thinks that maybe she has so many things to tell and she wants to brag about it. Then maybe she is jealous of you so she wants to show off. She might not be confident in herself so she wants to show that she is. Hope this info helps!

Those who are great need not advertise.

She must believe that folks wouldn't know if she didn't advertise.

What does she talk about in the other 10%?

Sounds like she is obviously self-absorbed. What a shame.

I'm sure you have lots to share about topics other than her.

Tell her that she's doing that (be careful don't make her mad) or u can just get her someone else to talk about herself to. LIke hook her up with a guy. She'll be talking all about her to a guy that likes her.

she may be afraid that if she doesn't talk about herself than no one else will. it may be a defense mechanism she learned early on in life. talking about herself, may be an attempt to not be forgotten or ignored.
