Revenge does not bring relief, ever.

Here's why...your emotions occur in layers. Anger is the first emotion that most people feel but anger is really a SECONDARY emotion. Anger is usually triggered by hurt (sadness), unmet needs, fear and loss (loss of an object, loss of a dream or goal or loss of self esteem) and feelings of powerlessness.

When people feel powerless and then get angry that triggers in them a feeling of blame and a need for retribution (revenge). The person feels powerless and they are hurting so they use anger and revenge to feel powerful again.

The reason revenge doesn't work is it only satisfies the anger. The underlying feelings don't get resolved. Once the anger is gone the person will still feel hurt and powerless.

Well I think most of the time it brings some relief. It feels good because now you are even with whatever the case may be. Other times you might feel even worse afterwards because you just lose it and afterwards you realize you shouldn't have done that. It depends on the situation and sometimes if one does not seek revenge then they will be hurting in the long run. One needs to think it out before one acts.

Revenge does not bring inner peace, but forgiveness! Revenge will only satisfy your stomach of pity temporarily. But after a while you will feel that you haven't done enough and will need to do something else to get them back. In forgiveness, however, you stop the whole situation. It's done. No more need to avenge yourself.

Uh i think it doesn't always bring relief cause sometimes u shouldn't get revenge. So u have your feelings inside of u that say i shouldn' of done this so you still don't feel relieved.
and sometimes when your trying to get revenge your doing the same TYPE of thing that made you want to get revenge. So you are fighting fire with fire and all you get is more fire.

Be careful when seeking and taking revenge, as it can backfire on you. Sometimes revenge makes you look and feel just as low and scummy as the person who wronged you. Try writing on this topic.
