I am currently starting college as a freshman this year and am hearing impaired. I am looking for a digital device that will record and save the message. Something that I can plug into the computer and be able to have it put into writing for me. Without having to hear it to be able to type it. It can do that for me. Any idea's? All helpful information welcomed!

I don't think there are any augmentative devices that can do that yet. The voice recognition software is not the good yet in general and it involves a lot of training. (You would have to convince your professors to work with the software for ~4-8 hours each before using it).

Explain your situation to your professors and see if there is a way to get lecture notes directly from them or the TA. If that doesn't work talk to your student resources center, there are often people available for note-taking or ASL interrpretation if you are more comfortable with signing.
