Amelie, hands down. It's French. I knew within the first 5 minutes that I was going to buy it on dvd. I have watched it with other people who all love it, too.

I adored Pan's Labryinth and Babel.
Pan's Labryinth was beautiful. It's music, acting and special effects created a movie that will never be out done by any other. It was perfect combination of history (world war 2) and fantasy.
Babel, although I'm not sure if it was fully classified as a foreign film, was pretty amazing. Told in 4 different stories, it brought together the thoughts of a "universal language". Though English is rarely spoken, it is easy to understand what's going on, and that's a hard task to do.

Queen Margot. Mostly French about the very short reign of a queen. But the underlying love story is incredibly poignant and moving and the actors are beautiful. Main character played by Isabella Adjani. Run Lola run was also a very clever movie. Loved it.

Love me if you dare - It is a french film. It's a crazy love story about who semi-sadistic friends from childhood, and a box. I could not find an english overdub, but the DVD is available in America with English subtitles.
The Audition was also a great film. It is directed by Takashi Miike, who tends to make very mentally F-ed upup movies. His film Ichi the Killer was good but somewhat disturbing. His file Visitor Q is probably the most crazy and F-ED UP thing i ever saw. I had to shower multiple times after watching that movie trying to get myself clean again.

The 1987 French film Le Grand Chemin (The Great Highway) with Anemone and Richard Bohringer. There was an American remake in 1991 named Paradise with Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.

One of the best movies I have ever seen (American movies included) is Life Is Beautiful. It is the greatest love story I have ever seen on film. It's not the typical girly flick love story (The Notebook) but a love story of a fathers love for his son and the sacrifices a father or parent is willing to make for their child. It won best foreign film in 1998 (I think) and I believe should of won best picture. I encourage everyone to watch this film and you will not be disappointed.

My favorites are:
"Esperando la carroza"(waiting for the chariot - Argentina)
"La Strada" (Directed by Federico Fellini- Italy), "Amelie" (France), "La vita e Bela' (Life is beautiful - Italy). But I love movies, and I could make an endless list of foreign films I love.
