Lucky you! The first time is the best! First and foremost, it's best if you know a few words of French that you can use with the natives. They love that! Words like Bonjour, Merci, De Rien...they will take you far. Do a little research before you go so that you will know what sites you are interested in seeing. There are the obvious ones like the Louvre, Jeu de Paume, Le Jardin de Tuileries, L'arc De Triomphe, Centre
Pompidou. There are a lot of other, equally interesting places like the Catacombes, Bois de Boulogne, Musee d'Orsay. There is much to see on the Champs Elysees...shopping, restaurants and more.

Congrats, Take the time to understand the culture, they are not big fans of Americans so try not to stand out in a crowd. This will be a great experience for you and I hope that Paris is on your agenda. There is so much to see there. I hope you have a good experience and beware of your belongings no matter where in Europe. Pick pockets are crafty so keep your possessions well concealed

My first impression of french people "rude and arogan". But the city is very nice. We called Paris is "The City of Love". I think every place in Paris is good to go.

Go to the Buddha Bar, its really nice and trendy place in paris. Also go to the Latin Quarter at night its lively.
The catacombs are also something cool, which many tourists forget about.

The metro is the best way to get around - cheap and fast.
Lots of great sites, don't miss Sainte Chapelle. It's often overlooked but it's truly not to be missed.

The people aren't rude at all by the way, at least they weren't to me.
