They are Deep at almost every position, has two very good starters, and a bullpin, that is mediocre, but I am not seeing the central being all that tough. The winner of that division could be around .500 anyway. I know they always choke in the clutch, but i think this is their year. Granted almost any other division in baseball they wouldnt have a chance. I'm not a believer in Chicago, St. Louis only got worse, and Houston is a joke without Clemens saving them midseason again.

No, they have a chance but, they won't earn themselves a playoff spot. They are in the absolute toughest division. Every single team in the NL Central has a chance at a 2007 playoff spot. The Pirates made great upgrades this off season. Cards will obviously take the division title. And the Cubs will wrap up the Wild Card. Brewers will take third. Reds will take fourth. Pirates will have fifth and Astros will take sixth. But, the Reds will someday make their well deserved playoff appearance.

Look, I grew up in the Cincinnati area and am a diehard Reds fan, but I still disagree with you. Don't get me wrong, I hope against hope that you're right, but they are just not that talented. Their bullpen has the potential to be the worst in baseball, and they have three huge question marks in the starting rotation. If you can honestly tell me that you faith in Milton and Lohse, then you are more believing than I.

I'm a bit more optimistic about the lineup, and I do think they will be better on defense. Cutting out some of the errors should translate into a few more wins this season. And you do have a good point about the NL Central being very mediocre (although the Cubs look pretty impressive on paper). But it's certainly not a foregone conclusion that the Reds will do anything. A few injuries here, and a few slumps there, and they will be left out.

I give them a 30% chance of making the playoffs. I'll still be rooting for them every step of the way, regardless.

Also, I must confess that after the disappointment of last September, I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much.

No they won't they'll only get ahead of Brewers, Pirates and Cubs, But Never Astros or Cardinals how long the Reds last 2 Games before the End of the Season Astros 1 Game before the Season ended, Cards still won this Divison and went all the way to win World Series.

This is really going be No Different, Except the Fact the Cardinals and Cubs will be the only teams improving from Last Year and this does have nothing to do with the Playoffs, the Reds will really be just like last year just Games short of the Playoffs.

I don't diasgree,I believe the Reds are better then last year and I picked them as my Wild Card. That division is not very strong and they could easily take it away from the Cardinals or Cubs or whoever else contends.I think Chicago is going to be better but people are making them sound like they are the best ever.I'd be shocked to see them in the playoffs. The Cardinals bearly made the playoffs last year and they aren't any better. As for the Astros Oswalt can't carry them team alone. The Pirates don't count and the Brewers are too young to do much this year.People forget the Red were only 3 or so game behined the Cardinals last year.

Im no longer asserting they're going to win the branch each year yet i think of the Reds would be contenders interior the NL critical and wild card for awhile. They jogged my memory a large style of the Phillies in 2007 whilst they first won the branch and have been swept via the Rockies interior the 1st around like the Reds have been swept via the Phillies. additionally that they had a large offense yet too little pitching like the Phillies did yet as they proceed to contend the Reds will sell extra tickets and function the ability to sign proper-notch loose brokers.

This team just doesnt knock me over. It has some decent players, but is too short on impact guys. Griffy just cant get it done on a regular basis anymore, and Dunn strikes out WAYYYYYY too much. Outside of Harang and Arroyo, there's not much of a rotation, and it seems that there is no real, top shelf closer. The Reds will have to improve as a ballclub overall in order to become a playoff contender.

Well the Reds need to get a quality and reliable closer (Chad Cordero?) , plus Griffey needs to shake off the injury bug, but the Reds will probably go 5 games over .500 at least this season, even if they can never be sure of a victory in a banbox like Great American.

Last year, Cincinnati was under .500. I have seen nothing that they have done to correct this problem.
I like the Reds, they are a storied franchise. But they did not do enough to finish better than 4th.
1) St. Louis
2) Milwaukee
3) Houston
4) Cincinnati
5) Chicago
6) Pittsburgh

Not enough pitching, Bro - Sorry.

Pitching always beat hitting, its as consistant as gravity. It's great to root on your team and hope for the best, but I dont see it happening. I am a Red Sox fan, and trust me on this one: Bronson simply isnt that good. He pitched way over his head, and it was his first year in the NL.. They will catch up to him.

Harang is excellent, but after him you dont have much.

Look toward 2008 when you've got Homer Bailey, then you might have enough to eek into the playoffs, but for right now, there are just too many teams in the NL Central that are more talented, bottom line.

they have to get by the world series champs first. don't know how sain't louis only got worse? when they actually got better because now duncan will have a full year (for the record he hit 22 bombs for them in 90 games).

huston picked up jennings (who had a mid 3 era FOR COLORADO) they also still have two top closers and they also bought lee-and they also have oswalt still. so i know for sure they are better than the reds. chicago...come on now..that team is beyond deep right now.

i don't see the reds finishin IN THE TOP 3

they'll be lucky to finish with a winning record. (which they won't)
