Should I report a spreeding driver to Crimestoppers or to our local Police? I want to stay anonymous as this chap is a likeable bloke but when he gets behind the wheel he is downright dangerous. Every night he takes his girl-friend home, about 5 miles away down winding country roads, with speed-limits, and he seems to be trying to beat his own record. He has got it down from 29 mins to 17! Something has to be done to stop him before he kills himself, his girl-friend or some other innocent person. Can't say anything to him myself - he's young, I'm old, so he'll probably tell me to mind my own business.

Yes, I agree, that doesn't sound very fast, but it's a10 miles round trip. there are winding country lanes, several junctions, 2 sets traffic lights, and 30mph speed limits, each way - and then he still has to say goodnight to his girlfriend. Can't be very romantic!

You have clearly made a mistake or you havn't described clearly enough. So if I may just point out, according to the figures you have given, he is doing an average of 17 mp/h. You say he started at 29mins, which would make it 10 mp/h.

His record is 17mp/h - now according to all the traffic laws I know of, 17mp/h isn't breaking any UK speed limit, unless he is driving 5 miles of hospital entry route...

So unless you meant 15 miles, I don't think you should bother reporting anything...

Your opinion of his speed counts as nothing. The police would need either to catch him with a mobile speed camera of put a police car behind him with a certified speedometer or lascar.

ie. good factual evidence is required and all your evidence amounts to is hearsay at best.

With all the other cases the police have to deal with I cannot see them being able or willing to devote time to this and therefore any report you make is likely to waste a littlemore of their time.

Have you thought that he might suspect you and then all he would have to do is report you for dropping litter, putting out your rubbish on the wrong day or putting something wrong in a recycling bin and you would get a substantially bigger fine!!!!

Yes tell the police, along with the reg of car and approx time of day to be in the area they will be out and about in the area conveniently to catch this prat!, yes we all exceed the limit on major roads sometimes, eg, like to overtake etc.
save a life or two report him or even nick his wheels he wont be able to drive then!
good luck

If he's young and you're old, maybe it's better to leave well alone. What you see as a potential danger may not necessarily be that danger. He will have better reaction times (I hope) and maybe, just maybe he's a damn good driver! Young folk can be good drivers, you know. And, in case you query my age, I'm 64 and would expect to beat his 17 minutes easily. Oops, sorry!

I would have to agree with contacting the Police, I would hate for one of my family to be snuffed out in a second by a mad lunatic who thinks he is God behind a steering wheel. This man must be stopped. The Police can easily gather there own evidence as long as you can report it to them. You must find this situation quite stressful, I know I would. Chat to a neighbor you trust about the situation. Perhaps 2 heads might be better than 1. I hope you resolve your dilemma.

You can try but will find not a lot happens unless you prosecute???? They didn't see it so can't and you'd need proof your word against theirs....... I did this with drunk driver reported while in front of me ... They sounded pissed i'd called then passed me around three stations before responding and only when stated they'd had three near misses....... GOOD LUCK but think ignore or wait with VIDEO camera then get the sod!!!!!

precise, the subject is, all the police can doo in case you rfile him for rushing or risky driving is positioned his information on the laptop device as frequently going on for driving dangerously or quickly. They legally cant do something with out direct evidence, by gazing him drectly or a house place of work approved device which comprise a velocity digicam measurement. and There in basic terms arent adequate police to circulate a persist with him to work out if he does it whilst they are there. The police will in basic terms come approximately in case you notice him doing at and make contact with in on the TIME, so as that they might seize him at it, or perhaps then prosecution is complicated. Calling crimestoppers will take days to come back with the aid of to the police and then whats the think approximately the 1st place. sorry regrettably legally police palms are tied, they might desire to seize him at it.

You are in a no win situation. If you report him to the police it will back fire especially if he finds out it was you.Have you tried talking to him tell him your worried for his safety. If he takes no notice then its his own fault if anything does happen.Personally I would let him get on with it.

Normally i would say no but this man has to be stopped its only a matter of time before he kills himself and others
You have to report him for other peoples sake you would be gutted if he killed someone and you didn't do anything about it Use a call box to report him then they cant trace you only the call box
If you tell them where he speeds they could be there waiting for him
Please do it your only trying to keep him alive
