is anyone good at sweep picking out here?

if you are, before you could sweep, did you ever wonder how people could do sweep picking since its so fast and what helped you learn how to do it correctly?

yeah...i guess you could say i'm "good" at sweeping. it was an obsession back in HS metal days, you know? :) i bust it out sometimes in a jazz solo now, but not too often. the only way to really get into it is by practicing the standard sweep forms SLOWLY, SLOWLY, SLOW-fricken-LY. :) there's an axiom in guitar playing that i've always found to be true: "speed is the byproduct of accuracy." practice to be accurate at VERY SLOW rates for long periods of time, and you will almost magically be 10x faster.

as far as wondering how they do it, it became alot less mystifying when i got the "correct" arpeggio forms to practice. do you have them? (one note per string - five or six strings across)....it's actually NOT TOUGH to master at all. :) not at all.

let me know if u don't. i'll explain more.

take it easy,
g

yeah i'm a female guitar player and sweep picking is pretty easy after you get it down.

just make sure you player one note at a time. some arpeggios will have to bar two notes or more.

goodluck with your music! remember to start slow on your sweeping. and make sure your up sweeping is as fast as your down. you don't want one to be fast and other to be slow. goodluck!

Yes my friend, I can sweep pick. Sweep picking is a great technique to learn, its used in a lot of neo-classical metal. Its very tough to master. Try listening to Cacophony, Jason Becker, and Ywngie Malmsteen. They're all have great sweep picking. Try watching videos of them on Youtube.

Start slow and practice....there is no real secret to it. Even great guitar players spend hours practicing passages to increase speed and accuracy.
