I watched something on a craft show they used regular toothpaste to remove scratches on cds. They said not to use the gel kind only the regular old school toothpaste. They put a tiny bit on the scratch and rubbed it with a very soft cloth.

I know of nothing that removes scratches form CD's. The peanut butter oil would not be good for a CD for sure. I believe that once a scratch is there, that's it, but I could be wrong.

nothing can really remove scratches, all you can do is fill them in. Regardless, dont use pb, windex, toothpaste, hi-liter, or any of these things. Your best bet is to go to a store that can fix the cds for you (such as a video game store) or you can get a thing called a CD Doctor that is the most effective product i have used.

no peanut butter doesnt work for removing scratches from cds.
What i recommend is, if you are like me and have tons of cds, to buy a disc repair machine. They have the hand ones and also motorized ones depending on how many cds with scratchs you have.
skipdoctor is a good one that i have used in the past.

If you've got more than one scratch on a cd it must be in bad shape. I've heard they don't work very well with very many scratches on them. You might be adding more scratches just trying to remove some. I'd leave it alone.

TOTAL MYTH... Take them to a used cd store and they can buff those scratches out but if they are deep scratches kiss the CD goodbye. I usually make a copy of my CD keep the original at home....Its the best way to deal with this.

I don't think there is anything that can really remove the scratches on a CD.

Actually there's a liquid that you brush onto them. That fills in the scratches. I've seen one of my buddies use it that is a karaoke dj. Try checking out a music or electronics store. Some place like Radio Shack might have it.

I don't see how peanut butter would be abrasive enough to do this. I can see toothpaste working, even wet cigarette ashes, but I have a lot of doubt about peanut butter.
