Think critically. If we own our lives shouldn't euthanasia/suicide, drug use, or selling ourselves be legal? Or is life an inalienable right that no man may destroy even if it is your own?

In most "civilized" countries, no we do not own our own lives.

That is because the government, instituted by the majority, believes that it knows what is best for us, and thus prevents us from harming ourselves. Much like a parent prevents a two year old from harming themselves. It's really rather demeaning.

nope because too many people would exploit our lives so some rules are established. The founding fathers realized there will always be the haves and have nots. The have nots if given free domain with their lives would likely do alot of things that arent good for them to become a have. Selling youself increases the possibility of getting HIV etc. Drug use is an escape from reality for a brief time and then reality comes back and you have to do it all over again while the guy selling the drugs basically has free domain over your life. Suicide is probably ok but there are ways to exploit that as well.

I think it should all be legal.

Drug crime is a direct result of it's illegal nature. No matter how much you legislate - you cannot protect people from themselves, and it should not be the "goal" or "job" of the government to do any such thing. Decriminalize it. Tax it. Get it out of the streets and into a storefront.

Personal responsibility should be in the hands of the individual. Free to choose. If you want to be a caffeine addict - go for it. Beer? wine, alcohol.. heroin, nicotine, aspirin or peeps - it's your thing. You want to take sleeping pills, waking pills, big macs, viagra or prozac - your decision.

Your life - your choice to do with it what you will as long as you don't infringe on the greater population in the process.

Get rid of insurance companies. They suck society dry and offer little in return. Biggest scam ever.

Money. It's the greatest obsession - nay, addiction in this country. It's legal. It's respected and everyone has it.

Yes - our lives should be our own. The government has no legitimate authority to protect us from ourselves - they have a duty only to protect us from others.

I would vote to re-instate our personal freedoms that have been slowly eroded by the growing federal government.

But when so many people vote to have the government take care of their retirements and medical coverage, etc, they are giving government the power to make decisions it shouldn't have the right to. This is a greater and more subtle erosion of rights than the alleged "assault" on our rights by the Patriot Act or Military Commissions Act.

Religious people would tell you that your life belongs to God and therefore you should do what God wants you to do on earth in his name. Government would tell you that you are part of a society therefore you should act based on the rules of laws that apply to all citizens, meaning that your life as free as you think it is really belongs to the government and its laws along with society's way of life.
Parents would tell you that you owe them for they have not only brought you to this world but fed you, raised you, clothed you and educated you directly or indirectly.
The only real thing that you own is your destiny ... your entire life depends on the choices you make.
Based on the fact that your choices are all based on the imposing facts and rules noted above ... you could say that ...ultimately ... YOU do NOT own your life.

Own our life Yes, but to go about to and to certain things in our life NO. Laws only gives us certain rights and what we should follow. BUT sense everyone has free will people break the laws anyway and end up paying for it in the end.

While I agree with your assessment regarding these are our bodies and no one should tell us what to do with them, but you also have to factor in families. Sometimes people who are suicidal can get better with help. Euthanasia is acceptable, in my belief, because they are terminally ill and going to die anyway. As for drugs, I cannot agree with it. What they do to their bodies...whatever, but drugs involve all kinds of crime that affects others.
