I think we have to stop calling it a crisis-- everything is a flippin' crisis these days.
There are problems, but throwing out the whole system is not the solution. I don't think socialized medicine is the answer as many people already have insurance. And, many countries who have socialized medicine have many issues- high taxes, long waits, limited access to care, etc.
Here are some ideas...
- Create large groups that anybody can buy into if their employer does not provide health insurance. Also applies to self employed and small businesses. That should reduce premiums and spread risk across larger numbers. also, have policies that are based on specific coverage vs. all in one. For example-- coverage for routine office, preventative, and minor illnesses. Other policies that only cover catostrophic cases - e.g. accidents, cancer, heart disease, etc.
- All health care costs are deductible from taxes. Yes, this subisides health care from the gov. but the gov is not running it.
- Tort reform and find other ways to reduce health care costs - that will also reduce premiums long term.
- Have some programs for really small premiums for those who are below poverty level. They get bene's but still have to pay something-- no free ride.

You pretend that profit and quality are not aligned.
You also assume that the fact that some people don't "have" something means they can't do anything about it.
How many of those who don't "have" health insurance are illegal immigrants? Answer, since no illegal immigrants have health insurance, and there are over 15 million illegals here, about 40% of them....
And how many of the rest have cable tv and a cellphone?
Half? At least that, right?
Well those bills combined is about what the lowest-priced health insurance plans cost.
And consider also that Starbucks pays health insurance for employees working up to 32 hours a week.
So what would I do?
NOTHING.

Get the government out of the system. It is screwed up because more than 75% of the dollars spent are spent by Uncle Sam. Of course the illegals flood the emergency rooms and the hospitals must absorb this cost themselves. However, you never hear about these facts, as they stand in the way of the government making another economic power grab through socialized health care.

A - seems to be how it is now.
I would say F -
We need to educate ourselves on natural products - Things that you can grow yourself - I it is "man made" then it is missing something. Also we need to stop doing the things that are causing all the problems. Now I am not saying that I have no bad habits but I do know if I do not stop them then I am asking for all the problems in the end. We should be taught this from an early age so we can prevent some of the problems.

I definitely think better benefits to employees. Some companies really reach for the bottom of the barrel health care for their people. I think all children under the age of 16 should be provided with healthcare. The rest?? Well, its up to them. Just as it takes a job to pay your mortgage and your utilities, better factor in health insurance too!

G) Cut the salaries, perquisites, and retirement pay of all politicians by at least 50%
Yes, I know it's a ridiculous idea, but wouldn't it be nice?

YOUR NUMBER IS HIGHLY EXAGGERATED. WE HAVE A THING CALLED MEDICAID IN THIS COUNTRY. THE POOR JUST NEED APPLY. THEIR IS NO FIX TO THIS. SOCIALIZED MEDICINE DOESN'T WORK. YOU HAVE TO WAIT MONTHS FOR SPECIALIST. THIS IS A CAPITALIST COUNTRY AND IN A CAPITALIST COUNTRY YOU BECOME A DOCTOR TO MAKE MONEY. THE DAYS OF DUTY AND RESPONSIBILITY ARE LONG GONE. IT'S EVERYMAN FOR HIMSELF TODAY.
