Am I right on this?:

Now I don't claim to be on either side of the fence and my intent is not to smear either side, but here are the "general" beliefs I see that is brought by both:

1) Libs claim to stick to the constitution, laws, and freedom of the nation, and want punishment of those who break them (even if it is the president). But in doing so, security can't be attained as effectively because laws can restrict critical security needs. They believe in freedom there is security.

2) Cons claim that security of the future is more important, and is more willing to attain it even at the expense of some freedoms and overstepping some laws, because they believe in security there is freedom.

P.S. Tell me if I have it right and give explanation to correct me. No insults plz. Thanks.

You got it right with the Libs, but as a conservative we want total reform and power at the presidential level. Kings with servants is my ideal system of power. Land owners should make all of the laws and be leaders of the people.

I think that you are confusing several issues here. Liberals, be they Democratic, republican, independent or otherwise, believe that we should be free to do what we want, where and when we want. There should be no death penalty, that all people can be reformed from the evil ways, just leave people to their own devices and they will take care of everything. Conservatives on the other hand believe in family traditions, the "old school", discipline, family value issues, what is good for the nation as a whole is good for everyone.
As far as the constitution goes, both are equally for/against it.
I think that you adding a bit of democrat/republican thought in the descriptions that you gave. But for each, you have liberal democrats and liberal republicans, just as you have conservative democrats and conservative republicans. For example....there are democrats who believe in the death penalty, just as there are republicans...those are the conservatives. The people who are dead set against capitol punishment are liberal, be they democrat or republican. But your totally forgetting those who share some liberal traits and some conservative ones as well.

Well, it's not quite that cut and dry, but you've got it basically right. The question for all Americans is how much freedom are we willing to give up for security. Personally, for me, the answer is none whatsoever. I will die to protect my freedoms. Period.

You're pretty close except libs don't stick to the Constitution unless it benefits their causes..(Example.. They hate the Second Amendment and the First Amendment only applies IF you agree with them.)

I would say that's basically right, although the Bush Administration is taking it a little far in one direction, such that some Republicans are left scratching their heads...

You pretty much summed it up. Let me make the definitions a little bit shorter for you.

Liberals use political correctness.
Conservatives use common sense.
