(Marjorie...thanks for your backup in that "other" question.)
You already know that one of my biggest gripes is with those misspelling "lose" and using "loose" instead.
Another:
Misspelling "separate" using "seperate" instead.
Plus, the ones you've already pointed out.
And other misspells too numerous to mention.
Ok, I read all kinds of excuses like "well, it's only Answers, it's not as if it's school", "it's just laziness", "it's not like I'm applying for a job or anything like that" or one of the poorest excuses,
"I no how to spell it, I just typed it wrong"[sic].
NO...the reason the words are misspelled is due to lack of education...to be blunt, they were NOT paying attention in school that day, or they are school dropouts.
I, myself, am not perfect...that's for certain.
But, I pride myself on being sure that no matter what I am writing or typing, regardless of the purpose or objective, is to ensure my words and grammar are as correct as I am able to make them.
Let's face it, when reading anything we say, the reader is also determining the final product of our brain-power.
Now, one of my favorite things about Yahoo! Answers, and something too many forget or simply don't realize, is the ability to revisit your post as many times as you need to make any spelling or grammatical corrections.
But, in order to do this, you must CARE...you must have some PRIDE in what you do, what you say and, how you put it down in writing or printed form to be later read by others.
Too many simply don't care or don't have enough self-pride to use "Check Spelling" or an online dictionary or, and this is really the sad part...are simply, not sufficiently educated.
(I'll be checking back later to see if I misspelled any words)

Orthography is quickly becoming a forgotten, if not forsaken, linguistic discipline. It is appalling to look at the myriad orthographical blunders made not only by the patrons of Yahoo Answers, but by people everywhere. The one thing that does irk me the most though, is the use of the increasingly popular 'texting' form of writing. While I do see the value and utility of this style of writing for the purpose of saving time and money, I am totally against its use in every day writing. It is making our youth, albeit more technically advance; lazier and more complacent with linguistic, mediocrity.

When someone's grammar and spelling is so bad, i think the must not speak english as their first language.
Mostly i see a lot of these people live in india. i also find it weird how these people ask questions with little to no detail, its almost impossible to understand what they are asking...
For answers, i think people type fast and confirm it so they are one of the first answers to the question. so a lot of spelling mistakes might came from that.

The ones you pointed out are often the most common....the ones that have a tendency to get to me....."da" instead of "the"--"wit" instead of "with". I know these kids are trying to be "cool" but Wow!!!
I hear this a lot now and it bugs me like mad....." I was with Sally and we were CONVERSATING" ...what the hell.....it is CONVERSING. Conversate is not a recognized word...it is improper!!! Conversation, yes--Conversation--yes......conversate--NO!!!
That is my biggest pet peeve in language!

"due to" instead of "because of"
People think it's more professional, but it's improper grammar...and they tend to include it in verbosity.
example: "Due to my lack of respect for the English language, I choose to completely disregard guidelines established to make the language functional."
Correct: "I don't care about English, so I don't follow the rules of grammar."

Double negatives i.e. she didn't have no money instead of she didn't have any money and misusing "borrow" i.e. I borrowed him the money instead of I lent him the money.

"my favorite quote is..."
!!!!!!
"quote" is a verb. "quotation" is a noun.
p.s. informal doesn't mean correct.
