Very Good Question and I am glad you care enough to ask.
Perhaps it's because they do not know God. And I am not talking about Christianity, or any of the like. I am talking about something spiritual. Perhaps the yearing for love, something deeper, spiritual, is the answer to their troubled lives. And I will leave you with this.
The Prayer of St.Francis says it best...
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Well, the young are having so much trouble, because they often had such immoral, selfish parents/family/community setting the example for them. Add a horrid indoctrination called public school to that and you have your answer.
The young, as so many of the older people, have no morals, no decency, no common sense anymore. And God forbid anyone tell them so or try to show them this.

Because times are so easy in America and other 1st rate countries that they do not endure the true hardships of life and our ill prepared emotionally to deal with the consequences of broken relationship. I honestly wish that ppl would put more pressure on their kids while growing up in the areas of responsibility and expectations. Which involves discipline on the parents part to set a good example and enforce the rules which they themselves create. I have a 4 year old daughter and we do not give breaks for good behavior while being punished, but the punishment can be escalated for acting poorly while being punished. Don't get me wrong, we mete out spankings very rarely, 3 times at last count and always with explanation for reaching this level of punishment. But she has chores even now, that she has to do everyday and she is very good about handling them. Sure they are things like feed the cat, putting away her dishes, clearing the table, but we are starting to tack on a new daily chore every few months. It all starts at home and the problems can be prepared for in life beginning there.

Inexperience.
But love comes with the risk of getting our hearts broken, that's why when the right comes you appreciate the real value of it. The problem is that some young people take their lost love too serious.

I think so many people have trouble in their love lives regardless of their age. Many people have too high of expectations and tend to want the fantasy. It takes really maturity to have a solid relationship. We are in the world of quick fixes (fast food, internet, cell phone) no one has to wait for anything anymore and they want the same with their relationships. No one wants to put the time or energy into it. It is really sad!

Well i don't think it's just the young that have relationship issues, i actually know more people in their thirty's and fourty's who have them more than kids my age.
No matter what age i think most of the problems start with immaturity.
Not many people these days want to put any real effort into making anything work, they just want it all, without making any sacrifices

Seems like we don't look before we leap. SO many people think that relationships should be all happy and easy going. They are not willing to work on their problems.
ALSO, if a person bases thieir realtionship of physical attributes, it WILL fail eventually.

Cause they take things too seriously. It is a symptom of the age. Nobody could have convinced me the world wouldn't end over some girl I had it bad over when I was a kid. It is all so meaningless in hindsight is it not?
