Your voltage regulator is inside the alternator. Check the page below for a troubleshooting guide.

Most vehicles now-a-days are all built with voltage regulators inside their alternators. There are some that still have it regulated by the PCM/ECU but most are not. Unless it's a really old Volvo then you should be fine. The VR should be inside the alternator,.

Depending on the year, the voltage regulator might be internal. It comes with the alternator.

Damn near ALL alternators have internal regulators.
Exept for old Fords.
