I think that if he is using the sippy cup well and would rather have it instead of a bottle then you should let him use it. The daycare has no right to tell you what you can and can't give your child. He is your child not theirs. If you still feel insecure about the answers then ask his doctor and see what he has to say.
My kids all started on the sippy at around 6 months. I had certain kinds I would use though. You want a sippy that the flow is not really fast.
Basically the decision is yours and what you feel is the best for YOUR child.

I started giving my daughter juice at 7 months and was firmly told not to give it out of a bottle... I still did a few times because she didn't take to the sippy cup really until 10 months despite my constant trying. I would definitly start the sippy cup- the sooner they get used to it - the easier they can let go of the bottle when the time comes... just my opinion :)

He is definatley not too young....my oldest daughter was drinking from a sippy at 7 months and was totally off of the bottle by 10 months.
Seriously do not listen to the daycare center....they are also gonna be the first ones complaining if your son is over a year and still on the bottle. Do what is best for your son...not for them.

That's absurd. My 10 month old is completely off the bottle and has been for a couple months. I started teaching him to use a sippy at about 6 months, giving him sips with his meals. You are right on track and DON'T let day care tell you what to do! YOU ARE THE MOMMY. If they don't support you, get a new daycare.

No its not too young. My son is also 7 months old and I am introducing him to a sippy cup. He mainly just chews on it right now but we are working on it. Its good to get them used to it now, this way it is easier to break them of the bottle.
My best friends little girl is 6.5 months and she has also introduced her to the sippy cup. Tell your daycare to mind their own business, you are his mother and will decide whats best for him. I would make sure that they are abiding by your wishes and trying to get him to use a sippy cup as well or your efforts maybe in vain.

It is always recommended to start introducing the sippy cup at 6 months or when your child can sit up alone without help. all my children started a sippy cup at this age and were done with the bottle before a year old. The dr. told me this is a good way to introduce juices to their diets.

My son started at 5 months to drink with a sippy cup with handles. As long as he is getting his nutrients from the breast milk or formula I think it is OK. The daycare sounds like they are just lazy. You know your children the best.

7 months is actually a great time to introduce the sippy cup. In fact it is easier than it will be in a few months, when he enters the "toddler" stage and will likely become much more stubborn about keeping his bottle. If he likes the sippy, and uses it, he is telling you he is old enough.

My son is 7 mo also and he can hold and drink from a sippy cup. He's messy afterward I know I just have to change his clothes.
Tell your daycare to lighten up.
