Are there any good beaches on the west coast of Florida ?
But not so far down south ?? ..
I'm coming from New Orleans.. and dont want to drive too far.

Hi there!! I live in Marianna, Florida. I am about 4 hours on I-10 from New Orleans. Hav e u ever heard of St. George Island? It is beautiful!! Only about 1 hour and a half from Marianna. There is a huge state park on the island also. I go there all the time!!!! Beautiful beaches also!! I can give you directions if you need them. :)

I absolutely LOVE Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota. It is on the Gulf Coast (west side) and is absolutely breathtaking. It is about an hour and 45 minute drive south of Orlando. Clearwater is technically closer (further north), but it takes about the same time to get there (because you have to travel through city lights forever before you finally reach the coast. Where as Siesta is practically right off the I-4) and it is a shelly beach. Siesta is smooth and has pure white sand. Its worth the drive! Enjoy!

Destin is always nice, has a lot of white sand not too many tourist. The hotels there are pretty nice. Of course there is Clearwater, again nice beaches little tourist. I put some sites at the bottom that tell about the diffrent beaches hopefully that will help. Have a great trip!!!!

Pensacola Beach is about 2 1/2hrs. from New Orleans it's a nice place to go. But I'm partial to it because I live there. Destin is further but more beautiful and has great shopping at the Destin Commons.

St. Pete/Clearwater beaches are all nice. The best beach in Florida is Fort De Soto Park.

Honeymoon Island is just north of Clearwater Beach and is awesome!!!!
