Myskina said, last year, that she would probably give up on tennis if she couldn't be in the top ten. Since she's been struggling to have great results since 2004, I think she's probably rethinking her tennis, or maybe she's training really hard off the tour. Dementieva recently injured her rib, and even though she's been in pain, she has continued to practice. She made the trip to Indian Wells, but her rib was too painful to play the tournament. The Williams sisters don't play in Indian Wells because in 2001 Venus defaulted from the semifinal moments before the match with Serena, and the crowd apparently booed them. They are both scheduled to play the Nasdaq-100 in Key Biscayne next week as well as the clay court tournament in Charleston a few weeks from now. I think the Williams sisters are just careful not to over-schedule themselves so that they remain physically healthy.

Myskina is going through a crisis in confidence. Dementieva has a rib injury at present ergo she isn't playing the Pacific Life Open. Serena and Venus need to focus on their tennis while they still have time. They certainly have the talent but not as much dedication as they should.

Mysinka(28 in the world still) has only played one tournament in 2007 and that was a warm up to the Australian . She must be injured. Dementieva is playing regularly and is still 8 in the world although she has not gotten past the 4th round in any tournament this year, The Williams sisters have kind of played irregular schedules the past few years . Serena is Healthy and as you know I am sure won the Australian , Venus did play one event this year I know, I can not remember which one, but she had a decent tournament and was coming off an injury.

Myskina: temporary retirement cause she's a head case.

Dementieva: Rib injury, withdrew from Pacific Life, out 6 weeks.

Serena and Venus: Probably not so serious about tennis, just about making a lot of money. Venus likes to say she's going to play events, then withdraw. Serena will be serious about slams, but not much else, she just shows up to the AussieOpen and wins. Both have had lots of injuries, but it hasn't diminished their marketing value that much, and they both know it.

Myskina gave up tennis. At least that what she said at the end of last year ,after losing in every tor. in first rounds.
E. Dementieva has shoulder injury, if we to believe her. She didn't have any good results last year since she fired her coach & hired her mother the school teacher to replace him.
The sisters, go for the big slams only. They don't wanna bother or injur themselfs with the small tor.

LOL 20 DOUBLE FAULTS you could be right :) to answer your question i agree with you i dont think they have much chance Venus and Serena are striking the ball freakishly hard and accurate. The one who has a bigger chance in my mind would probably be Safina.. having said that she has a very small chance expecially if shes going to serve up on average 1 double fault in every game and just gift points to oppenents. That was putrid. Gifting points to either of the Williams sisters is not going to help and Dementieva and Safina are the best at doing this.

Venus and Serena, even in their heyday, did not play as many tournaments as most of the other players. They have always been selective. The past couple of years have been filled with injuries, legal problems, family issues and other non-tennis pursuits, which has narrowed down their appearances even more.

Dementieva is injured..but hopefully she is using this time to improve her game. .. perhaps seeing a sports psychiatrist.

Myskina also battles injury, but perhaps to a greater degree battles apathy.
