Stainless steel will not rust and copper is sure to rust but is much softer. However, bronze is a combination of about 90% stainless steel and 10% copper. For some reason this makes bronze especially hard. I would use stainless steel (such as steel wool) for cleaning rust off metal. I would use copper for non-stick pots and pans. I would use bronze for stone sculptors...
