Calcium is in tofu, sesame seeds, and you can buy orange juice fortified with calcium. They also have calcium-enriched soy milk for your cereal.

You need 4 servings per day when pregnant. Doesn't have to be milk.
Cheese and yogurt are also good sources.

I don't drink milk, either.

I would say talk to a dietitian.

However, I would also point to my mother, who never ever drank milk for as long as I can remember. She ate cheese, ice cream ate viactiv when it first came out(10 years ago?), took tums etc.. Now that she is in her 80's she has osteoporosis and she breaks bones constantly - almost every vertebra in her back has been broken. It's to the point that the Dr won't do anything about it anymore. She breaks if you hug her to hard. Now she is in so much pain that she can't do anything. If she takes pain meds she just sleeps all the time. It really stinks.

She has excellent medical care, that isn't the issue. The problem is that she has weak bones, which is likely due to her lack of calcium intake over the course of her life.

You should drink milk (skim has zero fat) for yourself. Make sure your children, especially girls drink milk with meals. You need to set the example. My wife makes all of us (2 daughters) drink milk with meals.

I'm in the same boat... never drink milk!! I take Caltrate I think it's called. It's calcium and Vit D chewables... they are pretty tasty. I take 2 a day. And I just make sure I eat cheese, icecream, tofu... i also buy the OJ with Calcium and Spaghetti O's with added calcium (I know, gross, but I've loved them throughout my pregnancy). But it sound to mee like with your vitamins and Viactiv you are doing just fine. Good luck

I would assume that you are getting more than enough calcium. The Viactiv chews are usually more than enough. You should tell your doctor what all you're doing to get extra calcium and ask why they think you need more.

If you don't like milk(I don't) what about chocolate milk? But no you don't need to drink milk, you can get calcium in other ways, but milk is also good for vitamin D.

You should be okay to not drink milk if you are getting calcium elsewhere. If you get heartburn and need to take something for it try and get one with calcium in it such as Tums w/Calcium. I would ask your doctor since they already know you and can better judge how much calcium you need.

You dont have to its just a good way to get calcium to the baby.

Just keep up taking your vitamins and throw in a few calcium pills a week.

Good luck.
