She started holding the bottle herself when she was 4 months old. We've never put cereal in her bottles. She ate it from a bowl with a spoon.

My baby started on cereal at 6 months and could hold bottle by herself between 6-7 months. My other child could hold her bottle at around 4 months. I never put cereal in the bottle, and would only talk to the pediatrician before doing so. From what I was told (from several differnt dr) is when you first introduce them to cereal it is not for any nutri. value, but it is to help to teach them to eat off of a spoon.

You should not put cereal in a baby's bottle. They can start having it with a spoon when they are four months old.
Babies can hold their bottle on their own at about 7 months, BUT they keep taking it out and playing with it. I only just now, at 10 months, let my son control his own sippy.

My son was a late bloomer for everything-sitting up-crawling-walking etc.He did not hold his own bottle until around age 1.I started to put cereal in his bottle around 6 months of age through many people do not reccomend doing so for shoking reasons. My son loved the cereal in it though and never did choke.

My girls began holding their battle at 4 or 5 months. And you NEVER unless you dr tells you to put cereal in their bottle. It does nothing for them. Feed them the cereal if you really want to give it to the baby, this way you are teaching them something.

My son started holding his bottle at 7 months, and we started putting cereal in his bottle at 4 months. You should ask your pediatrician before doing so, but most likely they will tell you it is OK to add single grain rice cereal to the bottle.

my youngest, who just turned a year, had been holding his bottle for about 4 months now. however, we never did put cereal in it. he has always prefered that from a bowl.
