1) Look for capris that hit you just below the knee or just above your ankle, not in the middle of your calf. The middle of your calf is the THICKEST part of your leg and will make you look heavier.
2) Make sure anything fits in the hips. Everything else can be altered. Also, don't settle for anything less than what you feel good in. A new study has found that the less time you spend thinking about it (going with your gut) the happier you'll be.
3) Try on clothes. A lot of them. Capris and shorts are crazy and fit some women but not others. Don't be discouraged! Keep trying them on and don't let it get to you.
4) Avoid pleats in the front. Women of the 70s loved it, but they make you look big.
5) Avoid big patterns. They aren't going to do you any justice.
6) For shorts, find shorts that hit you between 2-4 inches above your knee. Possibly a little short if you have longer legs. Don't go crazy though. Shorter shorts aren't going to make your butt look ANY better.
7) Pick neutral colors--khakis, jeans, etc. The wild colors are great, but not really. The key to picking out great capris and shorts is to find a couple of neutral colors that could go with ANYTHING.
8) Don't stay in juniors. You're a size 16--try venturing out into the Gap or Old Navy, places that have larger sizes but aren't just so tiny.
9) ALWAYS TRY IT ON! Some women don't try on clothes at the store and pray that they fit. Don't do that. It's better to be honest with yourself.
10) Get something that FITS. If there is a capris you REALLY enjoy but the cut is small, don't be afraid to go a size up. Remember that it's not the size that matters but the fit. If you want, tear out the tag and put in "size 12" if you want to make yourself feel better.
11) Get some nice shoes. Make sure it's open back--it will make your legs look longer and leaner. Have fun! This is spring! Try some cute wedges.
12) There really is no magic store for clothes that fit you. Just go in and try things on. It's the only way to make sure they fit. Once you find the brand that best fits you, stick with it. Personally I find that Target and JCPenney tend to be cut smaller, while Dillards and Gap are cut larger. Old Navy USED to have a decent cut to their products, but now they seem to be running small. Just a hint.
13) Don't let people discourage you. You ARE beautiful! You can wear shorts, capris, anything! Your size doesn't determine your beauty.
14) If the pockets keep sticking out, have a tailor take out the pocket and sew it shut. It will take 10 pounds off of you like a snap.
15) Time for the truth: it's time to wear big girl panties. I'm 23 and LOVE those cute little panties, but if you fall over the top then it may be time to get some underwear that goes to your bellybutton. It will give you a slimmer line. Also, if you're more than a C cup or have never been measured, go get measured and fitted. At least TWO bras should come from a NICE line like Victoria's Secret. They will hold you up and make shirts look better.

Target has some nice Mossimo designs for 15/16 sizes. Not expensive at all. The cargo shorts emphasize the pockets and tie details rather than "curves". The capris have a tie cuff that add some interest and all of the pants are cut so they aren't tight and look ..well..ahem slutty. Flat front pants work better on pear shaped women. the pleats tend to poof out and give a pouch appearance.

It's important to keep length and color in mind. The color Black will make you look slimmer and matches just about anything. The length of your shorts should be just above your knee, these are in-style right now and very flattering for your type. Capri's should be half way in between knee and ankle. Stay away from tight stretchy material also.

there is a store called torrid that has plus size clothes but you would be the smallest size. you are not really plus size but the most flattering jeans would probably be in womens clothes and knee length, also try gouchos caprs or capris that flare and are not tight to your body. also to not look so PEAR you could wear a bra to make your bust look bigger thus making you look 10x more HOURGLASS figure and just better with a little cheating!

Well, I'm actually a lot bigger than that, but I find that really whatever is comfortable is best. If you aren't comfortable with certain lengths, don't wear them (for instance, I can't stand capris, so I wear the shorter shorts in the summer, and tons of skirts of varying legths throughout the year). if you try on enough clothes, you will find something you like. Also, if you find a cut you like, but there is something you don't like, try shopping online (a lot of times online is less expensive, and you can usually still return the item if you get it and don't like it- do check return policies, though).

My best advice - which is kind of a pain (sorry!) is to try on lots and lots of different lengths, cuts, styles until you find the best one. IF you know what kind of shoes you would wear it helps to wear something like that when you are "trying on". Never assume something "won't work" - you may be surprised. Just be careful of the proportions - please not too short or tight - and remember a simple clean silhouette in the most flattering.

I think if you find a pair of shorts or carpi's that fit, you can wear them. The big kicker on making them look flattering is the top you wear with them. I am also on the larger side, and the best option for me is a longer shirt with a cinched in waist line. It brings the attention up.

Same question here. Not size 15/16, but 12/14.

I like girls in jeans. It creates them look more home town like and it generally does not look like they are trying too much but if you're trying to get this fellas attention, this might not be what you would like
