Here it is, I am a 21 year old canadian woman who has recently become divorced due to an abusive marriage. I am now dating a Jordanian man, who is studying in England. His father is Palestinian and mother Croatian, but have been living in Jordan many years. I am crazy about this guy, and he is absolutely wonderful, and I don't doubt him. But I am ignorant to the culture, to the laws, to the customs... I am just curious if this becomes marriage, what am I to expect? Do I have rights.. will I lose my canadian citizenship if we are married? What would immigration be like if he wants to live in Canada? If we had children, what are their rights? If I moved to Jordan, what would I have to expect not being muslim and being previously married? I have many questions, and any information would be helpful. Just trying to be careful if anything goes backwards. Thanks

First of all, what is important, is that you love each other. I cannot advise anything about any legal issues, as I don't know anyhting about it. But I used to go out with Jordanian guy before, whose parents, what a coincidence, were originally from Palestine. What will probably make it easier for you, is that his mum is Croatian, so, his family must be more open and broad-minded that many of his fellow countrymen. In general, it is quite difficult for any non-muslim to integrate into a muslim family, as there are so many cultural diffirences. What is innocent for you, could be shocking and immoral for him. Another thing, is that women do not have any say in a lot of issues, and in most of the cases, regarded as second class. But i do not want to put you off, as only you know what is best for you.

Rights?
You might not have many if you move to Jordan.
One woman wrote how she married her college sweetheart who was from an Arabic country, and how he completely changed when she moved to his country.
You probably wouldn't have rights to the children in his country if you wanted to leave.
Yes,please do your homework on this.
I know that you don't want to get into another abusive situation.
People can say one thing, yet do another when circumstances change.

I 'd hold off a bit - you've already had one failed marriage at your young age. What's the rush?
