I want a 20 gallon tank. I might also consider getting a 40 gallon tank. I want a nice aquarium with one betta fish and a few other pretty fish. Also some plants and all that. Filters, light, etc. How much will it all cost? And how many [and what type] fish should I get? I really want a African Dwarf Frog in there and those other fish or whatever they are that like clean the tank or something xD So I guess I want a 20-40 gallon tank with a betta fish, an African Dwarf Frog, and probably a couple of the ones I mentioned earlier. What kind of other fish could go in there? And is that a good size tank for them? Also how much will everything cost all together?

For a 20 gallon tank I reccomend:
-1 male betta
-2 african dwarf frogs
-1 clown pleco (they are the smallest of plecos)
- 3 female platys
-1 male platy
- 5 glow light tetras
They all like a temperature around 75° f and ph around 7.
You can buy a 20 gallon kit with everything for about $100 plus about $50 for fish
Email me if you have more questions
Oh and I have 2 african dwarf frogs and I love them. Remember they don't eat flakes you have to feed frozen blood worms
Edit: Do not listen to the people above me and put a betta in with aggressive fish and chiclids. No tiger barbs. Male bettas will only attack fish that look like them . Barbs and other fin nipper fish will kill a betta.

As far as the size of tank you should get. It is said that there should be no more than one average (2 inch) size fish for ever 5 gallons of water. Therefore 20 gal tank= four fish...40 gal (8 fish) although I usually try for one fish per 8-10 gallons. Be very careful when choosing a tank mates for your Beta. They are very aggressive fish so you can never have more than one male in your tank and should not have more than one anyway. I would look into mollies, loaches, or another type of non-aggressive fish. Absolutely NO cichlids!!!
Also make sure that there are plenty of hiding places in the tank.
The tank will probably run you between $200-$500 with everything, depending on what type of style and curvature you get. Betas are cheap as are most fresh water fish, but some fish can be as much as $200 dollars.
Hope that helped

i think walmart is the best place to buy your small tank suppies and food i know they also have 10, 20, 29-bow front, and 55 gallon complete setups the ten and twentys are from $40 to $70 dollars and the 55's are $158.something. As far as fish as long as they are comunity fish any and all pretty much go together if you want to put a betta in with them make sure you get fish with smaller fins and keep an eye on them as the betta likes picking on other fish most every one will tell you that you cant put bettas with any fish including themselves but i say bull as far as total price it will vary cost of tank ,1 pound of gravel for each gallon of water so 10 pounds for 10 gal. $10 -$15 and then fish anywhere from less than a dollar to more than 10 dollars per fish and a stand i personaly use night stands dressers and or build my own but you can buy those as well or you can always search or post an ad on craigslist.org -look in pets then search fish it will give you a complete listing in your area of people who are getting rid of fish aquariums and other supplies and when it was posted

well, i'm not sure but i dont think you can mix battas with anything. [ again, not completely sure ] your frog can only be paired with non-aggressive fish. i've paired guppies and fantails with my african clawed frog. However, there are more "pretty" fish you can pair them with. When you go to buy them, just ask your fish guy if they are safe together. He should be more than happy to help you out. Your tank should be good for a few fish maybe 5 or 6? well, a good tank and set-up could get costy. You need to make sure you also buy a few tests kits to make sure your water is safe for your new fish. But my guess is about maybe 250-300$ or so. Hope this helps a little! good luck with your new fish.

be careful with the frogs because they multiply fast. As for the tank you should go for a forty or 50 gallon tank.So that when you add your fish and other stuff it won't look junky and your fish will have plenty room to swim around.

I would like to add to Alyalex...'s suggestion for the stocking:
IMO I would not to the 1 male/3 female platies in there because the platies are live bearers and would quickly overstock a 20g aquarium.
If you do platies i would recommend getting all of one sex: 4 males or 4 females.
