I purchased my vehicle about 1 1/2 year ago. It runs well and I haven't had any major problems with it. There is a small oil leak due to what the oil shop said was a corroded seal which he said is common in these cars. Anyways, this past fall, I started noticing a noise when starting the car. The best way to describe this noice is like a metallic rapping or rattling noise. Like I said only when first starting the car in the morning. It then progressed to happening more often mostly when accellerating. It now happens all the time. I called the honda dealership and the man I spoke with suggested getting an oil change which I did immediately at a different shop. This did not help the problem at all. Does anyone have any answers or suggestions. Other than the noise the car seems to be running well. I am short on cash at the moment. Can I wait for awhile to bring it in or should i do so immediately?

it could be a bad wheel bearing, or a loose bold on the frame.

I've seen the insides of the catalytic converters break apart and cause the rattle on several different Hondas. That is easy enough to duplicate--have the honda dealer put the car up on a lift with someone in the vehicle to start it and run it. If you can hear a noise like marbles rolling around inside the converter as the throttle is quickly pressed and released then the converter is bad. In the US there is an 8 year 80,000 mile warranty on the converter under the emissions warranty. if the vehicle is beyond that it is an expensive replacement.

It may also be the heat shields that have broken a weld as the other respondant suggests. The dealer would be able to see that as well.

I wouldn't wait if the problem is with a deteriorated catalytic converter as the possibility exists that what is rattling around in there could get stuck in the exhaust stream and cause the car to stall.

A common problem for hondas are baffles in the exhaust coming loose and rattling. It is annoying, but harmless. Your description sounds like that. I have owned several hondas and all had the problem. It never got better and never got worse. It would be very expensive to fix.

I still would buy a honda. They are great cars.

this is going to sound very elementary, yet have you ever checked the floor mat interior the motor vehicle? no count if it fairly is a 'production unit' mat there would desire to be 2 hooks on the back below the front seat. if the mat isn't hooked down it could artwork itself forward and stop the accelerator pedal from going each and each of how down. It happens greater in lots of cases than you're able to think of! if the floor mats at the instant are not Honda mats the proportion is larger. the gasoline equipment cleansing isn't recommended by employing honda and wouldn't have any result on your project. Autozone will examine for codes to work out if the on-board diagnostic equipment has detected something incorrect with the gasoline administration equipment. If the examine engine easy isn't on then the test won't coach something. it fairly is advisable to learn the air clear out to work out if this is constrained and replace it if its been greater beneficial than a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. you additionally can want to attempt an more advantageous octane gasoline for one tank to work out if that has effects on it. I fairly have an LX form civic and it runs lots bettter on 89 octane than on 87 and it form of looks like a distinctive vehicle on ninety one yet i don't would desire to pay for that each and all of the time. the LX is not any tiger often on an incline even regardless of the indisputable fact that it form of feels that the better octane gasoline facilitates. you will desire to not have any want for something related to music ups, valve alterations or spark plug alternative at that mileage. attempt the floor mats, air clear out and better octane gasoline. in case you nonetheless think of something's incorrect, take it to a Honda broking and ask in the event that they are able to have the keep formanpersistent the motor vehicle with you. they are going to be truthful and inform you in case you have any reason to fret in the event that they sense something unusual. very just about each and every broking could have the keep forman holiday alongside with you devoid of charging you. desire that facilitates provide you some concepts
