As I'm researching different schools... I play the horn and would be a non-major... In Montreal, it looks near impossible to take lessons unless you are enrolled in the music program (not the case for most universities)... Is it common for in-demand professional hornists to teach out of their home there?

In the larger Canadian cities--such as Montreal--one could expect to pay $20-$30 for intermediate horn lessons. As your skill level increase--and it gets harder to locate qualified advanced "hornists", then one can expect to pay $30-$60 for lessons. On average, only the larger cities would have qualified, advanced horn instructors.
