And will it work for future versions? I'm thinking of getting a used copy of GH, and have a GH2 controller. I don't feel like spending any more money!

Yes, as a matter of fact it does! I purchased GH1 after GH2. You can even lift the neck of the guitar to use Star Power like you did in the 2nd one!!! As far as future versions, I am assuming it will as the only different guitar you can buy now is the wireless type.

Yes, but you need two controllers to enjoy the full experience of GHII
