There are many causes for pimples including hygiene, diet, and genetics. But if you find that merely controlling what you eat (i.e. avoiding greasier foods and reducing chocolate consumption) doesn't help you much. In addition to that, you could at least positively affect your personal hygiene by cleaning your face with a residue free soap (i.e. castille soap like Dr. Bronners, or Ivory, or Pears) and if you need a mild exfoliator, you can add a small amount of sugar to it and gently- with the soap lather- rub the mixture onto your face in a circular motion. The key here is gently do so, so that it's mildly abrasive, and doesn't feel like it's scratching your face. Then rinse well and add a light moisturizer. You really need to use a light moisturizer so that you do not clog your pores, or cause your skin to be exceptionally dry. A dime-sized amount of some light lotion should help.

Regardling lightening your skin, I'm not aware of any household products that will do that. It is a pity that you feel the need to "correct" your skin color, but if you really feel the need to do so and you live in an area with a lot of sunshine, you should just suck it up and purchase a bleaching cream/blemish remover like Ambi or any of the more expensive brands. Bleaching your skin is a long and arduous process and it requires you to be devoted to consistently and thoroughly applying it every day paying attention to every detail of your skin (after all, you don't want your face and neck to be light, where the rest of your body-including genitals- is much darker). If this is a step that you decide to take, you can't half-*** it. You really have to stick with it or else you will get the absolute worse results.

If you, however, live in an area with the stereotypical four seasons including a winter, you should already be more fair from spending a winter indoors trying to avoid the cold. Lucky you, if you haven't developed a winter pallor yet.

In any case, good luck. Hope this helps.

sleep. at least 8 hours...
this will not only improve your skin but your memory too.
before you go to sleep, put some moisturizer (oil free) after washing.
For whitening, what's your skin color? your whitest white. Check the inner part or the underside of your arms and other body parts that is not exposed in the sun. that's the whitest you can be..

sugar and lemon, do it and u'll feel the difference. Or try the foam from soap and sugar, it also helps. Make the foam by putting water in a big dish and move the soap.

White toothpaste dabbed on a zit will dry it out overnight (you the paste kind will work, the gel does not.) Also, egg whites shrink pores, so applying raw egg whites and letting it dry before washing off will help reduce getting blackheads.
