when you buy a used computer;nothing on it;what do you put on it and costs??

everything that needs to go on a computer;to start up;and what are the costs? looking for bifriends also.

OS (operating system, like linux or windows) Windows is more mainstream and progs (programs) will be abundant
A gig of "RAM" or memory and a cd or dvd drive (you will want a burner) and anti virus/spyware BLOCKER (If you use telus you should really get their antivrus antispyware thing, and ya that's all you need for basic pc'ing

If you haven't yet bought it, you should check to see what it is capable of.
Will is run Windows98 only?
Can it run WindowsXP?
How much RAM does it have
Size of hard drive
This all matters. It may not be upgradeable.
I will include the link to the WindowsXP advisor. Download the program to your desktop and run it from there. It will examine the PC and tell you if you can run WinXP.
If you can, WinXP alone will cost you

My honest opinion, you would be better off searching HP or Dell for a refurbished, basic computer.

You will need an operating system. Linux==free. Windows expect to spend at least $100.

if ur talking about an operating system then i would suggest windows XP. u can probably find it used for under $100.
