Nurturing is not a gender-specific trait. A man who is trustworthy and kind, honest and most importantly, in agreement with your positions regarding discipline and parenting, is as appropriate as a woman.

Geez, persons are so sexist recently ; what's incorrect with a male babysitter? who's to assert a girl could no longer be a intercourse criminal? It happens. you will possibly hire a girl, and she or he could be a worse babysitter than the male is. i do no longer understand this guy, yet i think form of undesirable that this question is even at right here. while you're that fearful approximately it, then run a examine on him. Ugh.

I don't see much difference really. I have had both male and female babysitters. I must say, I have never had any problems with the young guys that have taken care of my child. Most of the time, she enjoys the male company because young men are often more active than young ladies. They tend to play games more, and pay more attention. Young girls aren't really into kids. Most I have encountered spend most of their time gabbing on the phone, or playing on the computer. But there has been some that have been just as good as anyone else. It really depends on the person you find.
I have never left my daughter with anyone I didn't know well. And I feel that the sex of a person doesn't matter as long as I can trust them.

Personally I would prefer a female babysitter for the reason that woman are more sensitive and more understanding with children. I would just not feel comfortable at all with a male babysitter.

We had a male babysitter as kids. My brother was wild and most girls couldn't keep him under control. However a 6' plus high school jock had no problem once he put my bro in a full nelson and took him to the carpet :) (just a side note: He didn't hurt my bro, just showed him who was in charge)

I think it is important what you think and how much you trust them.
assuming if it is a newborn, the babysitter should be very comfortable changing diapers and holding a newborn.
assuming it is a child (non-newborn) they should be able to entertain the child and make good decisions. It also helps if your child likes the baby sitter.

Hey! I earned extra money in my teens babysitting.
I don't think you would be safer with a female babysitter than with a male. There are females who have mental inbalances out there you know?

I always hire cousins or close friends, and since I know them, it doesn't matter what gender they are.
