"The most powerful"? I'd say yes, but NOT for the popular reasons . Out of all the nations that at one time were rooted in a Judeo-Christian foundation, ours is one that still has some semblance of embracing that worldview. One example: the Founders recognized that the rights we enjoy as American citizens come not from any king or parliament or goverment, but from God alone and are thus "inalienable" . Also, during our history we have had one, and only one, Constitution, unlike many other nations. To paraphrase John Adams, the Constitution we have was designed for a "moral and religious" people. If we attempt to approach it from a purely secular mindset, all our laws, all our economic prowess, and all our military might will mean nothing. Consider the targets chosen by the 9/11 terrorists: the Pentagon, the US government (Capitol/White House), and of course, the World Trade Center. It seems they had hoped to cripple us by destroying what they saw as the symbols of our power. But isn't it interesting that no cathedrals or other houses of worship were chosen? Think about it...

We have the largest economy and the most sophisticated military, for starters. That we are the most powerful country is all but self-evident.
But with great power comes great responsibility. As things stand, we rate an "F."

Military, economic, and maybe diplomatic might are all attributes of the United States.
The Iraq war cost the USA a lot of good will amoungst our friends and allies, but we still are the 'go to' nation when it comes to diplomacy missions worldwide.

Let us be modest, there are high ranking countries in the world and there are several factors that go into this consideration. There is the economic turn out, and there is money, and there is military power. The good ole US is high up there.

I do. I think we've lost a step the last 8 years, but we'll come back strong. Freedom releases the power of the people.

America is a melting pot for all people. Why do most immigrants seek to come to America?. America must have everything that person is looking for without worrying about getting beheaded or bombed due to their beliefs. America is good for eveyone.

Well I think it was and a little bit on the line now with Bush in office. China and Russia make us look pityful China got our jobs and we wished our military was more like the Russians or China's. Bush has taken a country and ruined it for the time being though.
