A dyno is the best way to find out a cars HP and Torque. You could get a random guestimate from looking under the hood but thats not too acurate. If the car is stock you could easily find the specs on that model on the internet. Probably www.Edmunds.com or www.motortrend.com

You can probably look it up on the internet. It should be a published fact.
It won't be printed on the engine anywhere.
You could go to a Dynomometer however a session on the dyno usually costs atleast a hundred dollars.
You can also get a very rough estimate by timing a 1/4 mile run and taking into account the weight of the car.

If it's rated HP look it up on the manufacturers web site. If it's your personal car that has had modifications done, then you can take it to the dyno and that will will give the HP to the wheels. That is extreme if it's just curiosity. You could take the more used for the dyno pull and add some more HP instead. Your car, your money, your choice.

for my car it is in the owners manual under specifications. I have a 1999 grand prix and it says right in the back of the book.

If you have the book that came with the car it will say it in there. Usually in the back of it.
