It's kind of like pulling a 57 Cadillac out of your nose.
I agree with the other poster who said Epidural! I also agree that once you have that baby in your arms, you'll forget all about the pain. You'll do just fine when the time comes!!
And I was just kidding about the Cadillac. ;)

I wanted to die each time. So its pretty bad. Not trying to scare you, but since you asked. Im sure its alot worse than the period cramps that made you throw up.Alot of everything during my labors is a blur because the pain was so bad, I just dont remember much. But it didnt get so bad until towards the very end when It was almost over with. Women have done it for years and years, Im sure you will be ok. Ive done it naturally with all 3 of my babies and Im 38 weeks with my 4th and will do it again. My labors dont normally last long.

It's not going to be a fun walk in the park that's for sure. It starts out like really bad menstral cramps - and just gets worse from there. It's hard to catch your breath and focus - you feel like just giving up but you have no choice but to go forward. I have 3 kids - had an epidural with 2 of them. Epidural is the way to go!! It will relax you enough to enjoy the birth of your baby. Labor is tough but you'll make it through. Once you see your baby - all the pain memories seem to go away. I know everyone says this but it is SO true!!

everyone handles pain different. But take menstrual cramps times 10 and you about got it. You might amaze yourself and handle it well. But that's why they have pain relief. Just remember pain relief has side effects. That's why you have to sign a form to get a epidural. That way you won't sue the hospital. Don't you think squeezing something the size of a grapefruit out a hole the size of a lemon is going to hurt. It's a labor of love. That's so totally worth it.

It's like the cramps before a period, just magnified. Usually you remember the pain, but you forget how bad. An epidural during labor usually takes care of that and you can float right through the labor. I had the epidural for two of my three.

It varies not only with each person but with each pregnancy. I've known people who didn't even know they were in labor & were told by their doc on a routine visit to get to the hospital to deliver. Some people have back labor. Some people just feel crampy. I think if your labor is induced it hurts more because they have to give you pitocin to stimulate your body to go into labor & the doctor controls the timing of the labor & not your own body. My first one was like this & I thought I would die until I got the epidural. However, my 2nd & 3rd ones were a piece of cake. There was some pain involved but as soon as it got unmanagable for me I requested & received the epidural. Whatever pain you have to endure though the outcome is well worth it! God bless!

I have gotten sick due to terrible period cramps too. But the pain of the labor does hurt and its called labor for a reason. When the baby is low and you are ready to push you are going to feel A LOT of pressure in your rectum area. Pressure like you have never felt before. But when that babies comes out you forget about everything and when the baby is a few weeks old you are ready for another baby. You are going to feel a lot of pain but it the easiest pain to get over and fast.

Increase that by 10 and that is how bad labor hurts. This is what it was like for me. Others have a easier time with labor. It really depends on the person.
