I have...wish I would have had someone helping me when I my husband would knock me around,men watched but never helped

I really appreciate it when people become involved. Although, I have to confess, I've never been involved in something as major as what you've just gone through.
A man came to my door yesterday and told me that my son was out playing on the roof. I really appreciated that. What if my son had fallen and the man hadn't said anything when he could have?
A few weeks ago, my neighbors were in Hawaii when a pipe burst in their house. All the neighbors were involved in trying to figure out a way to notify them. Someone finally got ahold of the lady's mom and she came up to stop the problem before their whole house was flooded.
A while back a lady in my area had a major surgery. She had little kids at home and her husband had just left her. Our church got involved and took her older daughter to and from school every day, brought her dinner every night, helped her change her bandages daily, took her to and from Drs. appts, cleaned her house every day, etc. She knew only 2 people in the whole area before that, now she has tons of new friends who care about her and love her.
Getting involved is a good thing. If you try to get involved in a situation where your help is not wanted, at least you have the satifsaction of knowing that you gave your best effort.
You're my hero, Clockwork. As far as I'm concerned, your black eye is your badge of honor.

I'm not really a big fan of people who get into things that don't involve them, but when I do see someone being harassed I actually try to do something about it.. but in all reality, who would be intimidated by a 5'3" 124 lb woman :O(... lol..

we need to form a society of "helpers." i'm doing a few little investigations and covert activities myself, hoping to see some improvements around here.
