Its like everyone thinks they are going to write a childrens book and make a billion dollars like J.K. Rowling. Only 1 out of 5,000 childrens books submitted to mainstream publishers gets printed. And then out of that most of them dont make much money. Dont new authors know this or do any research? Or do they just start writing and assuming that every author that writes a book is a millionaire?

To the person that said that I am afraid they will succeed and i wont... Thats not true. I hope someone that truly wants to be an author makes it big time. But most of these new authors dont care about the story, or the children. They are looking for celebrity status and celebrity riches.

It's a lack of creativity. Back in the day, a lot of people tried to replicate the success of Star Wars by trying to write "space operas." Whenever something is wilding successful, people get dollar signs in their eyes and want a piece of the action. Rolling did something that was unique and fresh. Now that it has been done, all these Potter knock-offs are trying to do what already has been done. They are like the dumb criminal in the Italian Job who cannot have his own dreams.

Well I guess we all have dreams and aspirations. I guess if your dream is to be a published author, then you might as well try. What's the worse that can happen, not get printed? If JK Rowling did it, and made millions, there's possibility, although very small, that you may be the next popular children's book author. If you never try, you never know if you would succeed. If all human race were negative, we would never accomplish anything; JK Rowling would still be teaching part-time, living on wellfare and writing "nonsense" at her usual café.

Damn Mr. Negitivity! Looks like you need to read "The Four Agreements". Be Impeccable with your word. Let them have their dream. Just because it's different from your dream doesn't mean you have to fear it. And trust me, you posting this is fear talking. You are affraid that they may succeed and you my friend, won't with that negative attitude. I hope that each and every one of those people at least gets their idea out there.

I know this, so I just write a lot, practice, and make a nice, confusing and complex plot that is capable of being understood. I realize I probably won't write a best-seller, but then again, I can still write.
