ok here goes, the story was about 2 dolphins called "fa" and "bea" it starred (apart from the dolphins) Kirk Douglas. The dolphins could speak and were being trained to plant mines on enemy ships, to cut it short it all went t***s up as Kirk Douglas found out the dolphins were being stitched up by the F.B.I. so he had to get them to leave much to the dolphins sadness, the dolphins were crying andKirk was saying, "pa no love fa" etc, this is a classic tear jerker from years ago that i have not had the pleasure to watch, but my hubby did and want to get it as a present for him, thanks in advance(early to mid 70s i think)

i have tried golden oldie shop locally and he has never met anyone else who ever saw it, i personally think he may have dreamt it but he is insistent that it is a film,(if he did dream it then he is convinced it would be a winning format!)

OK, thanks to my better half (he insists I point that out) We've solved the mystery!
It did not star Kirk Douglas, it was George C Scott, and the film was called The Day Of The Dolphin. Here's the IMDB page:

I have seen this film, he has not made it up but I can't remember the name of it. The main actor is walking away along a beach as the dolphins call out to him it is very sad.... and very cheesy.
I think it is called The Day of the Dolphin and it is not Kirk Douglas it is George C Scott. It is on DVD, Try to find a review.

The one I can remember is Day of the Dolphin (1973) but no Kirk Douglas I am afraid. The dolphins are Ka and Bee so guess it is the correct movie.
