First of all, be careful with how you define "fun"... When my kids would ask, "Is this going to be fun?", I would remind them that the f-word (ha, ha) wasn't allowed in my class.
I guess you mean engaging... The more elements you add, kinesthetic, visual, auditory, and so forth, the more engaging it can be.
I guess it would depend on what subject you are trying to teach. I know for science, experiments are always a hit. For social studies, we do lots of webquests and role playing. Math? There's always manipulatives and discovery learning. Reading? Reader's theater, lit circles.
