we make such a big fuss about St. Patrick's day in England and no fuss at all about St. George's day?
Don't get me wrong I have nothing against Ireland or Irish people. In fact I have several Irish freinds and other friends that have Irish parents. We should be more like the Irish and celebrate St. Georges day with street celebrations and parties.

I'm irish and i must admit no one celebrates like the irish ha. There's more tradition behind st paddys day for a few reasons. A lot of irish people live in america therefore it's been hyped up over there too. Anything that's hyped up over there usually follows it's way around the world. Happy st paddys day;) x

I think it is because many English people just use it as an excuse to get plastered!
Can't do that for St George's Day (for some reason?)
Up the Irish! I love them!

England has been trying to promote st george`s day by getting people to wear a red rose, but not a lot of people know that.

It really is a fuss round all the way to Canada and the USA.
On the other hand, perhaps it is more fitting to honour Saint George in a more serious manner. Much of Patrick is legend, nothing wrong with that, but legends are, it seems, truly not taken as seriously as the person him or herself deserves.

I'll tell you why!
Because English people feel guilty for what their ancestors did to the Irish, so they make a big deal out of Paddy's day to make themselves feel better about it.
