The comic 52 tells what happened in the year between the end of Infinite Crisis and the One Year Later stories. At the end of Infinite Crisis Superman and the Earth-2 Superman took the Earth-Prime Superboy through the Kryptonite astoroid feild and red sun that were left behind after the destruction of Krypton. This helped defeat Superboy Prime and killed Earth-2 Superman. It left Superman with out his powers. during the period of 52 Superman's body has been building back its store of yellow sun energy. That is why his powers returned.
