This is from Wikipedia:
On May 23, 1999 Owen Hart tragically fell to his death in Kansas City, Missouri, during the WWF Over the Edge pay-per-view event. Owen was in the process of being lowered into the ring from the rafters of Kemper Arena for a booked WWF Intercontinental Championship match against The Godfather. In keeping with the Blazer's new 'buffoonish superhero' character, Hart was to be lowered to just above ring level, at which time he would release himself from the safety harness and then comically fall flat on his face. He had performed the stunt only a few times before, and was worried about performing the stunt at Kemper Arena due to the height involved (Owen had a fear of heights). Something went wrong with the stunt and Owen fell from the catwalk and died from his injuries less than an hour later. Owen Hart was 33 years old.

Owen Hart was portraying a superhero gimmick called the Blue Blazer and he entered the ring by jumping a few feet into the ring off a crane. But I have heard that he was scared of heights and the venue for the PPV, Houston (?), meant they had to start the crane much higher than usual. He had to release himself but he panicked and released himself way to early. He fell from some distance onto the turnbuckle and cracked his chest or something. He past away 6 minutes later with friends and family, including Bret Hart, standing around him. I think you will find that the incident was taped but never released as it was not a live event. I think the event was called "Over The Top/ Edge" and ofcourse they had to change the name to the current Judgement Day. RIP Owen.

I was watching that night, but due to the time delay they didn't actually show the fall the screen just went blank. And then the King and J.R made the announcement of something going terribly wrong. It was supposed to be his entrance to the match so there is no match to watch.Someone did post a video of the fall here on answers a few weeks ago,I didn't watch it tho so I don't know if it was the real thing or not!!

I hope there is no web site where you can see it..He fell to the ring from the ratfers while trying to repel to the ring like my favorite wrestler of all time Sting. Wrestling hasn't been the same since Owen died.. he should be a hall of famer. He gave his life to entertain the fans..what is more hall of fame than that?

No there is no tape. Owen died during a stunt for the character "Blue Blazer" he was supposed to "fly" down from the rafters but the harness broke. WWE has locked ANY footage from that away out of respect to the family. NOONE will see it and anyone that says they have the footage is LYING.

Yes, I was supposed to be at that PPV-I'm glad I couldn't make it. He didn't die from a move, he died by falling 60 feet from the ceiling of Kemper Arena in Kansas City. He was to have come down on a cable (like Sting or HBK used to) and somehow he came loose and fell. He hit the ringpost and died on the way to the hospital. Supposedly he yelled at several guys below him to get out of the way as he was falling, probably saving their lives. To my knowledge footage of this horrible accident has never leaked out. The live broadcast did not show it ( to my knowledge, we didn't get that PPV). Some people thought it was part of the show

there is no video footage of that match, Right after owen fell the wwe stoped filiming. there are fakes online where it says owens death but it turns out to be a table match from old school ecw. I doubt that you will find anything where it shows what went wrong.

He didn't die doing a move. He was propelling from the balcony with a cheap $15 gliding clip. The guys warned him against it, but Vince was pushing for Owen to do it, to generate good heat. If they had a better clip, he wouldn't be six feet under.
