Movies (and books) are banned for various reasons, but to put it simply it is because someone feels they are "unacceptable." After Pinochet overthrew the Chilean government, Isabel Allende's "The House of the Spirits" was banned because it portrayed the coup from a pro-socialist point of view (the assasinated President was her uncle). By contrast, "Where's Waldo?" has been challenged many times in America, and it has been my experience that most books used to teach in public schools were banned at one point or another.
