They want to pay me by the hour, how much is a reasonable request? I told them to simply call around to daycares and find out what the infant part time rate is and then give me a bit less then that, but they want to do hourly. Any suggestions?

It depends on where you live. In downstate Illinois, the fee is usually $2 to $3 per hour, but other places, it can be much more. In Chicago and bigger cities, I've heard of it costing $4 to $6 per hour, per child.

Are you sure you want to have to take care of two babies. It will be hard on you adapting to having a baby much less watching another. To be honest really think about it. That's a recipe to possible depression. Think about waiting to watch the other baby until you have time to get use to your baby. It feels good to help other people, but think about your health.

After you have your baby, you will be way too busy with your baby!!! You won't have the time, the power, or the patience to work with another kid. You'll be so busy with the newborn. You have to tell them that! Don't just accept the kid because you feel bad, but your going to have your kid to work with. Tell them to look for other daycares.

i'm not sure how much you should charge, but let me tell you... you are going to have your hands full with your brand new baby and a 4 month old!!! If I were you i'd look into taking in an older child for some extra income... but not a 4 month old with your newborn... ugh!!
