I have purchased an hp pavilion 6182 laptop about a two months back with Win XP. Last week, it would suddenly not boot saying missing hal.dll file in system32.However, if I pressed ENTER,it would boot. I tried system restore but it failed.I tried pc recovery from hard dics which failed and NOW the system would not start at all.I tried with laptop recovery disc which failed and instead asked me to format the disc.I formatted it but the laptop is not booting saying the system file missing. Please give your comments.

I'm not sure how to fix that problem. I would recommend calling hp since its under warranty still. They will have you ship it in. Just tell them that your operating system isn't working. Dont tell them you ended up formating because they might make you pay. They can be picky if you take things in to your own hands. Just play dumb so they'll fix it. Trust me i know.
