hay what the hell is the bloody fascination with the godfather films i found them boring and tedius to watch but hay tell me what u think

Everything is not for everybody and you have a right not to like them.
The reason why they are considered Classics (especially the first two) is because they changed the way movies, in particularly gangster films were made. The music the way the film was shot and the extensive character studies were something that innovated movies. They also humanized the mobsters, which has never been done before on that scale. If not for Godfather, no Sopranos or Goodfellas or Black Donnellys to name a few.

You are not alone...I know lots of people who don't like the Godfather trilogy. Some of them even enjoy Scarface or Goodfellas, but not the Godfather. I, myself, am a big fan of the first two films in the trilogy. I love the development of the story of the Corleone family. The different deaths and betrayals, loves and losses are poetic. The music is also fantastic (won an Oscar for it). The acting is fantastic...perfect casting.
However, I think the second movie is much more tedious than the first...you really have to be interested. Also, the movies are period pieces, which some people don't like.
I guess it's a matter of personal taste.

I thought the same thing about them. I prefer mob movies based on true events. Goodfellas still tops my list of mob movies. I wouldn't mind seeing the mob hitman Richard Kuklinski's life made into a movie.
