I have The Secret on DVD, and would like my friend to see it. Can I save it to my computer and send it to her somehow? I tried, but cant see any obvious ways. Is there a way I havent found? My computer has windows XP and windows media player. Thanks!

Is it a full length film? Since most DVD's are 4 GB (Gigabytes) of data or more, it's unlikely you can do anything with this. It is way too big to e-mail, and for someone to download it from you would take quite a long time, even with a fast connection. If you had a DVD burner you could copy it then send them an actual disk, that's assuming the disk isn't copyright protected, which is a whole other subject

You would have to create an image of the DVD which compresses the data. I do believe that even if you did that you would not be able to send it through as the amount of data is too much to send, especially through I.M.!!!!!! You can create your own webpage and put the image file on there to be downloaded. Good Luck!

usually DVD's are huge, you cant send them over an IM coz IM's will have a limit on the file size. if its less than 10mb then you can try it. You can get the DVD into a file though using Power ISO (free tool that can be downloaded from www.download.com), this will extract everything on the DVD into a single ISO file. Then you can send this ISO file to your friend in number of ways, like upload it to X-Drive (AOL provides this feature, 5GB limit and its free) and your friend can download it from his/her end.

You can read more on what ISO files are and what they are used for on the internet... all the best..

No, because that is considered piracy which is considered to be a felony. Besides that all DVDs have protection in place to prevent that sort of thing. If you want your friend to see the movie, he/she can either rent it or buy a used copy.

I seriously doubt that any Instant messaging program would allow you to send a file as large as a movie.

It's way too big to send as an e-mail. You'd have to break it into hundreds of bits, and you'd clog their e-mail box on the way.

Theoretically, though, the answer is yes. You'd save it as an image.
