HTML Stands for Hyper Text Markup Language .... It is basically a language which the Web Browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox etc) understand and display ur web page as u can see it .... (If You want to see the current HTML code for the current websites u can click on View ---> Source)
Now a days a lot of other things are used in conjunction with a HTML like XML, ASP, JS etc.... For better web pages...
U can very well create a web page test it on ur computer and then upload it to the myspace server ...the page will look as u want it too.... :D

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. This is the computer language all computers use to create Internet (WWW) pages. It is similar to computer languages like BASIC or C+ . HTML is the language used to display this page you are currently reading.

I think everyone else has answered what HTML stands for, but you're going to want to learn CSS (cascading style sheets) for tweaking mypsace layouts. If you don't want to learn, just use an editor where you can copy and paste code.
