They are trying to divert attention away from the fact that it is actually Republicans that are blokcing anything from happening in the Senate. The war is unpopular, so they do not want the Republicans to be seen as continuing it against the public's wishes.

The same reason NPR, the New York Times, and Democratic politicians trumpet Republican failures - everybody has an agenda.
I think everyone's time would be better spent paying attention to their own actions instead of bashing others - but I guess that sort of news doesn't sell.
