because i just had my polio tetnas at school and when i had the injection it hurt like crazy so how do you make them not hurt as much and how can you not feel them like wot are some things to help to take your mind of of having an injections

RELAX. the more relaxed the arm muscles are , the less the injection will hurt. When the muscle is relaxed, the needles will slide between the fibers, when you are all up tight and the muscles are clenched, the needle has to tear thru those same muscle fibers, and it tends to hurt, alot.

Same holds good for pain as well. Stop looking at it...stop thinking about it. For a second just forget that you have a hand (the one on which injection is being taken) And start thinking how to create a solution to the rising rebelliong in somalia. That should keep the pain less.

First, sometimes the person giving the injection hits a muscle. That hurts!!!!!!!
Secondly, some injection fluids are just naturally thicker in content, and the thick fluid is what actually "hurts", not the needle itself going into your skin.
Hope this helps, cause it is difficult to find the time, before the actual injection is given, that allows one to focus on something else......

Dentists now use cream that slightly numbs the area in your mouth prior to injection, not sure how well it would work with a Polio one though. I think it comes down to the person doing the injection, some people are able to perform it in a more gentle way.

You are being a bit of a wuss! Really you need to be a big girl and realise this is a very trivial discomfort.Everyone in the country has had this injection and lived to tell the tale. The only technique I know is to slap the area firmly and give the injection immediately afterwards. It stops you feeling it a bit.

I just look the other way and think about something else. It does not hurt unless you think it will. The actual amout of pain is very small - your brain makes a big deal of it because you are obsessed with how badly it will hurt. I recently got a genital piercing and that did not hurt at all, it was like a tiny sting that lasted a few hours and that was it.

Their is a special cream that can be put on your skin to numb the area to which they inject the needle. The problem is it takes an hour to start working.

Sorry, don't have a huge amount of sympathy on this one, I have diabetes and have to inject myself 4 times a day.
