By who's standards are you considered a non-custodial parent?Did she seek out some kind of assistance or aide and list you as an absent father to acquire these things,or did she list you as the absent father to obtain child-support?you need to ask her these things because I smell a rat.Unless at some point before the child was born you were not living together, and she made note of this at a State Agency, then you would be the non-custodial parent because you are listed somewhere as not living under the same roof as the mother and child.

you are considered the non-custodial parent because you were not married at the time the child was born. Regardless if you live together or not

Because usually custody is awarded to the mother (custodial parent) and you then become the non-residential parent or non-custodial parent whichever you prefer with visitation rights til youre legally married then both are just regular parents. Hope this helps

Because a mother automatically has custody of a child when they are born. If you were to pay child support then Joint Custody will start. The laws aren't really fair for fathers because most aren't around.

it may differ in other states. did you sign a paternity affidavit when the child was born? in ohio, since 1996, just because a mans name is on a birth certificate, it means pretty much nothing unless the affidavit was signed or dna testing was done. mother is custodial parent if child is born out of wedlock. just went through this crap with my husband, who thought he was going to marry the childs mother, then later realized it would be a mistake to do so. he went through hell getting visitation with his child. he paid child support without going through CSEA and after finally getting her to court for visitation and court ordered support for the child, got screwed because what he had paid was considered a gift. the mother has all the rights when it comes to this. so, my advice would be to hurry up and marry her. if things don't work out, it's much easier to get a divorce and visitation rights established throught the courts than if you try to do it down the road not being married. in ohio, if she decides, for whatever reason, not to let you see the child, (for a year and a half), you don't have a leg to stand on. you would be forced to take legal action against her. if that happens, go to child support enforcement agency first. MARRY HER!!!

who's saying that ? well if you and the future miss's are both on the baby's birth record and are living together then i do not think that you can be called a non-custodial parent.a non-custodial parent is often absent from the household.
