Each time I wash a load of clothes or empty water out of the bathtub, my toilet gurgles. Why?

This usually means there is a problem with the soil vent pipe that goes to your roof. Its plugged.

Not usually easy for you to fix, but can depend on how your house and plumbing are laid out.

Sorry, but sounds like a call to a plumber.

drain plumbing needs venting to work properly. if the gurgling is in the "bowl" it's possible the vents are obstructed and the gurgling is produced by a siphon(vacuum) condition when draining another fixture, also possible that obstruction in drain (not vent) is causing backup to toilet and gurgling sound caused when water is forced back into the toilet. if gurgling is in tank, it is probably a defective flush valve. if fixture is old and water supply is high in minerals it may have obstruction in internal water delivery system. have plumber "snake " sewer lines if that doesn't cure problem snake vent lines from roof.
